2013 Hawkes Bay Regional Championship Results
TukiTuki River 8th & 9th February

“The annual Hawkes Bay Regional was held over the weekend of 8thand 9thFebruary. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t your typical Hawkes Bay summer day with cool temperatures and light rain falling on the Friday. The outlook for the remainder of the weekend wasn’t any better. As it turned out the first two sessions on Saturday were fished in reasonable conditions. Beats were well marked out and despite some weed issues the river looked in great condition.

Session one saw Johannes Krill win with 17 fish over Lloyd Struthers with 20 fish, and Cory Scott and Geoffrey Bernsten with 21 smaller fish. A great effort for this time of year.

The afternoon session saw Cory Scott win with 18 fish over Lloyd Struthers with 12 and Belinda Thomas with 11. Lloyd was winning after day one with Cory a point behind.

Overnight rain had coloured and raised the river with some beats more effected than others. However the river stood up well with Nick Lyon taking out the final session with 11 fish from Mark Clasper and Cory Scott with 9 each.

The final results saw Cory come out the winner on a countback over Lloyd. Mark Clasper took third place.

Some great fish were caught with most catching rainbows in excess of 50 cm.Thanks to Lloyd and Cory for organising the competition and to Brendan for once again doing the scoring.A special thanks to the controllers who had to endure some unpleasant conditions at times, and to the locals who turned up to support.”
