Manic Tackle - Rod & Reel Pairs Comp 2011
The final results were tallied while we sheltered from a hail-storm and once again we gathered be the lake. Neil Hirtzel and Peter Chan took the overall pairs title having caught a total of 28 fish between them. 2nd place went to Craig Farrar and Paul Dell. And in 3rd place were Rob Vaz and the aforementioned new face Paul McDonald, which is great for a first year entered. ‘Team Lyon’, brothers Nick and Brendan placed 4th.
In terms of the Pro-Am placing’s the very cool C&F and Airflo prizes from Manic Tackle went to Rob and Paul in 1st place, Yoshi and Belinda Thomas in 2nd and Tony Houpt and Sam Bourne in 3rd.
Rob Vaz took to the podium again as 1st place getter in the individual competition from Neil Hirtzel on a count-back. 3rd place went to Dan Comer and Paul Baker placed 4th. Rod and Reel provided Fishpond gear for these winners. (Belinda's full report)
Certainly I found myself on the motor a lot covering water and searching as much I possible.
I looked for clean water as like Tony a lot of the lake was certainly coloured and I began my first session down the Island end of the lake with 3 drifts really not feeling it! - I took the punt and headed for the other end of the lake where I concentrated the remaining 3 sessions - with better clear colour in this end of the lake I looked for weed structure and darker patches to drift.(Rob's full report on what he used ect more>)
